This painting was inspired by living on the French Riviera, and its colours by the Mediterranean Sea. Most days the Mediterraen is calm as its a estuary not an ocean so we dont get many stormy days. It's also about meditating on the power of our thoughts, and how we are not our thoughts, but merely observers of them.

The Mediterranean Sea, with its stunning azure waters, plays a significant role in shaping the climate of the Côte d'Azur. This region enjoys a Mediterranean climate characterised by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The sea helps to moderate temperatures, ensuring that even during the hottest months, the cooling breezes provide relief from the heat. The warm waters are also known for their stunning hues, which range from deep blue to turquoise, depending on depth and sunlight. This unique weather, combined with the picturesque coastal landscapes, contributes to the vibrant atmosphere that has inspired many artists and writers over the years. The pleasant climate invites outdoor activities year-round, making it a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike.
The Côte d'Azur, also known as the French Riviera, derives its name from the Mediterranean Sea's stunning blue colour, which translates to "Coast of Blue." This picturesque region extends from Cassis to the Italian border and has long captivated visitors with its beautiful landscapes, charming villages, and vibrant culture. The enchanting beauty of the Côte d'Azur has inspired many renowned artists, including Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró, who sought the region's vibrant light and colours as a source of creativity. Picasso, in particular, spent significant time in the area, creating many works that reflected the dynamic scenery and unique atmosphere. The interplay of light and shadow, the vivid colours of the ocean and sky, and the lush landscapes have made it an ideal backdrop for artistic expression. Artists are drawn to the Côte d'Azur not only for its natural beauty but also for its rich cultural heritage and the inspiring communities that thrive there. The region has been a haven for creatives since the early 20th century, when it became a hotspot for avant-garde artists and writers seeking a refuge from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The mingling of different artistic styles and the presence of fellow creators often foster an environment ripe for collaboration and innovation. Moreover, the Côte d'Azur's vibrant atmosphere, with its bustling markets, colourful architecture, and lively festivals, adds to the inspiration that flows through the region. The combination of stunning scenery, cultural fusion, and a supportive artistic community has made the Côte d'Azur a timeless source of inspiration for artists from various disciplines. Its allure continues to attract creatives seeking to capture the essence of this beautiful place in their work.
